The holiday begins with five nights at a Lutheran Retreat House based in the small spa town of Bad Urach, 30 km from Stuttgart airport. This will be a time of preparation for the Passion Play run on the usual houseparty lines. We will be staying in the centre of the town which has medieval
wood framed houses round the market square - very attractive and quiet. The retreat house is built round three sides of a square with the fourth side occupied by a magnificent Gothic church.
We then move on to Oberammergau itself where we will be staying at two hotels in the village - the Arnika & the Maximilian. We will have time to explore the village, experience the atmosphere, and attend a special service before going to the Play. We have been given first class tickets for the Play on Thursday, 13 July, which now is in two parts, starting at 2.30 p.m. with a break for supper and ending quite late in the evening. The holiday ends after breakfast on 14 July.
