Blessed to be a Blessing

Hey Lads!

Do you know what God did immediately after He created you? In Genesis 1:28 it says:

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

The same blessing and command applies to you today.

The word blessed is used throughout the Bible in many different contexts but it simply means, ‘empowered to prosper’.

God has blessed us because He loves us and longs for us to prosper in His plans for our lives. He also blessed us so that we may be a blessing to others. In Genesis 12:2 God speaks to Abraham saying, ‘I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.’

It was God’s blessing in this passage which led to the life of Isaac and eventually Jesus almost 2000 years later who was the ultimate blessing. When Jesus died on the cross He defeated death so that we can experience eternal life. What a blessing! Now with His Holy Spirit in us we can walk in freedom from sin, shame, guilt, condemnation and death. If you still don’t feel blessed despite this truth, take a moment today to ask God to fill you with His peace and the revelation of his blessing over your life.

I encourage you today to bless someone else with this Good News, the Gospel of Jesus. If you don’t know how to do that, or you are not sure you understand or believe the Gospel, please get in touch, I’d love to chat through it with you.
