Discontentment to Rest

I spend a lot of time on London Underground and trains travelling around to see you Stewards' Trust girls. I love a good journey and getting myself all set up with a cuppa.

Recently I sensed a bit of discontentment and stress after travelling on the tube. When I would get to work I would feel like I’d been bombarded with information. Bare in mind I’m a very visual person and I am a sucker for adverts. Adverts telling me what mattress to sleep on, what headphones to use, what supplements to take, where to go for a holiday, what bank card to use if I want to start a business. You name it...You get the point!

In Romans 12:2 it says:

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Our minds being renewed is a process. Part of me thought; “Maybe I should just always stand in the centre of the carriage and then there are no adverts!” But then I thought “No, that’s just escapism and there’s no need to be afraid!”

Then Holy Spirit gave me an idea based on a verse in Matthew when I was looking at one of the adverts for a mattress! It says in Matthew that if we go to God He gives us rest. And I thought why not just use these adverts as reminders and ask Holy Spirit what He is saying to me through the images.

God is so creative in the way He renews our mind, nothing on earth is off limits for Him to speak to us. What is there that robs your peace or stresses you out? God can speak to you through that very thing!
