I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Today I’d like to share one of my favourite parts of the Bible.
‘Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honour at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.’
When he raises us to new life, we’re not just free of sin, but we get to experience heaven as a reality, we receive eternal life. The phrase, ‘set your sights’, shows us how our eyes, minds and hearts should be constantly fixed on Him, in new life our perspective is heavenly.
The verse speaks of how we need to look up, to Him, above our situations and circumstances, knowing that he holds everything, and in Him we are more than conquerors.
When we; ‘set our sights on the realities of Heaven’ we begin to experience them.
One of my favourite sports in mountain biking. If you’ve ever been mountain biking,
You’ll know that the most important advice is to look where you want to go. If you choose to focus on the large rock in front of you or the cliff edge to your side, that’s where you’ll head. But if you look where you want to go, navigating it will be a lot easier.
In a similar way, when we see our sights on heaven we’ll begin to see it here on earth. This is why we pray, ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as in heaven’.
I’d love to chat further about what this looks like practically, please feel free to text me on 07454337266.
