Today I want to encourage you to do one simple thing. Pause. Pause from what you’re doing, pause from all you’re carrying. Just take a moment and be still.
In this time where lots can feel stripped back, it can be easy to respond by filling up our lives again, in order to reach the busyness which was often consuming us. But I want to present to you an alternative. Stillness.
Psalm 46:10 - ‘Be still and know that I am God…’
I believe this verse highlights the simplicity of our calling. A call to rest, and rest in knowing our Creator. Jesus said:
Matthew 11:28-30 - ‘Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.’
Another call to pause, be still and turn to our Creator. In doing so the weight of all we are carrying is replaced by the peace of God. One of my favourite songs goes like this:
‘Take a moment to remember who God is and who I am, there you go lifted my load again.’ - (Take a Moment - United Pursuit)
At the start and end of each day I love to take a few minutes just to lay everything aside, phone included, and give Him all my attention. I close my eyes and think about Him. Often distracting thoughts come in, but I try to put them aside, and just worship Jesus.
I want to encourage you today to do this, just be still and adore the Lord. As you do so I guarantee that you will leave this posture feeling lighter and refreshed. I’d love to hear how this impacts you, feel free to text me on 07454337266.
