The Cross - with the Rev'd Paul Perkin
We have great pleasure in inviting you to our Day of Encouragement in Oxfordshire of Worship, Prayer and Teaching. We will be meeting in beautiful Burford Church with lunch in the nearby Warwick Hall.
We are particularly delighted that the Rev'd Paul Perkin is coming as our speaker. Paul is going to be speaking on Three Views of the Cross of Christ: Jesus to Pilate’s view; Jesus to three men’s view (Simon, Barabbas, the Centurion); Jesus to His own view.
Paul read physics at Oxford, and then taught both physics and RE at Canford School. Ordination and curacies at St Mark’s, Gillingham and HTB, also chaplaincy to the Brompton Hospital, led to pioneer church planting within the network. As vicar of St Mark’s Battersea Rise for 33 years, together with his wife Christine, they developed a range of community ministries, and Paul served on the General Synod. As trustee of Care he has maintained an engagement with public policy, and with BioCentre, focusing on emerging technologies and their ethical, social and political implications. Now at St Andrew’s, Limpsfield Chart in Surrey, Paul is still a vicar half-time, the other half consumed by 9 grandchildren, gardening, National Trust volunteering, occasional skiing and, believe it or not, bellringing.
Coffee and biscuits will be available from 10am with a prompt start at 10.30am. Lunch is provided and the day will finish with a cup of tea at 4 pm. Parking is available five minutes walk from the church. Do bring your own wine if you would like a glass with your lunch.
We look forward to seeing you there.
